Easter Pom Pom Animals

DIY

“Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits ,

and their names were —

Flopsy,

Mopsy,

Cotton-tail,

and Peter.

They lived with their Mother in a sand-bank, underneath the root of a very big fir-tree.”

- Beatrix Potter, The Tale of Peter Rabbit

For a young girl with a blossoming imagination, the time of day just before bedtime, when my father would reach for a book and read it aloud to my sisters and me, represented the magic hour. While the moon grew higher in the sky and the stars brighter, his words would travel across the air and into my ears, somewhere along the way sparking a fantastical adventure among whatever cast of characters happened to be in the story.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit was a particularly beloved title, for whenever he read the parts about Mr. McGregor, that persnickety old gardener, he’d use a delightfully exaggerated Scottish accent—“Meeester MaaaccGreeegggorrr”—which would promptly send us all into a fit of giggles. Such a simple tale, but there was something about that mischievous little hare that stole my heart, forever cementing a fondness for bunnies of any shape or form, toy bunnies, chocolate bunnies, real bunnies. (In fact, at one point, I even had a pet bunny named Chocolate.)

Recently, I had the pleasure of creating these pom pom animals for eHow, featuring an adorable little bunny reminiscent of the young Peter Rabbit, along with his furry friends, the chick and the lamb. Even if you’re not the crafty type, I promise these are incredibly fast and easy to create, and they make the most endearing charms to give away in Easter baskets or incorporate into your Easter décor. I even made a video tutorial (introducing the world premiere of my YouTube channel) to walk you through how to make them.

Hope you enjoy, subscribe, comment and have a wonderfully joyous Spring!
